Rehabilitation Nursing

The nurses at Weismans Children's Rehabilitation Hospital practice a special type of nursing known as Pediatric Rehabilitation Nursing.  The nurses at Weismans Children's Rehabilitation Hospital pass medications, and do all of the treatments and care that you would expect a nurse to do, but also have been educated in the principles of rehabilitation.  These include having the child do all the tasks that they have learned in therapy on the nursing unit, allowing the child to do as much for themselves as they can and educating both the parents and the child in the different medical care that may need to continue to be done at home.  It is important to realize that the only way that your child will get better and faster at doing an activity is to allow them to do it.  It may be difficult to watch your child have to work hard to do something that in the past took them a few minutes to do, but in the long run, it is definitely worth having a child that looks on themselves as a success.
