Day Hospital
The comprehensive day hospital program is designed to serve infants, children and adolescents who continue to progress toward specific rehabilitation goals and require an intensive rehabilitation program, but no longer require 24-hour nursing and medical monitoring. Children up to age 20 must be medically stable and at a functional level, which allows them to remain in their home settings, yet participate in an individualized program.
To qualify for admission into the day hospital program children/ adolescents must require the services of at least two rehabilitative disciplines (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, respiratory therapy and/or dysphagia therapy). Additional support may include child life/therapeutic recreation, social work, nursing, respiratory therapy and educational services.
Program days will be tailored to meet individual needs and goals of each child/adolescent. This program enables the patient and family to practice newly learned skills in their home environment, and, ultimately, attain their community, vocational and/or school goals. Aquatic (pool) therapy is incorporated, as indicated, into the day hospital program, as well as weekly meetings with the rehabilitation team to reassess goals and the functional progression of each patient.
