Current Outpatient Therapy Services

Next Steps for Outpatient Services and Telehealth

At Weisman Children’s the safety of our patients, families, and staff are always our top priority. That is why we are constantly reevaluating our Outpatient Services to accommodate all of our family’s needs during this unprecedented time. In March, due to the pandemic, we transitioned Outpatient Services to an exclusive telehealth program. While we celebrate the success and positive outcomes of the program, we are excited to begin the next phase of reopening our outpatient centers. On June 1, 2020, we will begin to offer in person services for those unable to participate in our telehealth program.

Outpatient Centers Reopening

As we begin to reopen our outpatient centers to in person visits, we want you to know what we are doing to ensure that you and your child will be safe when resuming your rehabilitation services. Since the start of the pandemic, Weisman Children’s has followed CDC and Department of Health guidelines for cleaning and care every day and will continue to do so as we reopen.

We are limiting the number of appointments and people in the building at one time to maintain social distancing and allow for enhanced cleaning between each of our patients. All of our staff will wear masks, face shields and gloves during therapy sessions and ask patients above the age of 2 and their parents to wear masks as well.

For more details on the safety measures and guidelines we will be following as we reopen, please watch this video.

Additionally, below is a helpful resource video to welcome your child back into our care

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of technologies (video and/or audio) by a therapist to deliver services to a patient when he/she is located in a different site than the therapist. The telehealth service offered to you and/or your child will allow for a real-time therapy appointment with a therapist via secure and interactive video or audio equipment. This is not the same as a direct patient/therapist visit, because you will not be in the same room as the therapist performing the service, but the same rules apply.

Is Teleheath safe?

The electronic systems used by Weisman Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital therapists will incorporate network and software security protocols to protect the confidentiality of patient identifiers (personal information) and will include administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect the data from potentials risks. All HIPAA laws that protect privacy and confidentiality of patient information apply to telehealth services.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to provide the care your children deserve as safely and effectively as possible. Please reach out to a Weisman Children’s representative to see which form of outpatient services are appropriate for your family.
