Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS) Program

Amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome results from an abnormal reflex response that triggers pain to both the brain and blood vessels. In our program, we aim to empower patients and their families to return to a “normal” daily routine; a routine which includes full participation in school and leisure activities/sports; as well as restoring overall healthy life function.

Patients participate in a daily schedule 6 days per week including 4-5 hours of direct therapy each day. We will work together in order to set and achieve daily, weekly, and long term goals. Parents or caregivers are provided with a communication book that outlines the daily goals and the progress made. We strongly encourage family involvement in the weekly team meetings, including interaction with our social worker and psychologist.

By working together, we hope to successfully re-integrate our patients and families back into their community.
